Departments are virtual “offices” where a group of people can discuss a specific topic. Teamly departments allow you to organize team communication. For example, you can create a Support, Sales, Engineering etc... department and add relevant users to them. Departments can be named in ways that make most sense to your organization.

Owners, admins and managers can navigate to the ellipsis menu next to the workspace name then select "Workspace settings."

Click on "Department and messages."

Click on "New Department."

Alternatively, select a project and click on the "+" icon next to "Departments."

Add the department name.

Optionally add a description.

Select an icon color for the department.

Set the visibility to public or private (STARTER and BUSINESS plans).

Select or invite users into the department.

Click on "Create."

Each Teamly workspace features a default "General" department that is public and inclusive of all users. Additionally, department names must be unique across the workspace.

⚠️ Click on a department's name in the left side panel to drag/drop and sort.

  1. Select a project and click on the "+" icon next to "Departments."
  2. Add the department name, description, select an icon color and set the visibility to public or private (STARTER and BUSINESS plans).
  3. Click on "Create."
