Teamly Chat is perfect for conducting brainstorming sessions, problem-solving at a distance, and getting answers fast.
With Teamly, group chats occur in Departments, which are public or private virtual chat rooms where users can gather together to collaborate around a "virtual water cooler."
In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:
Organize your chat messages using Departments
Create and format a group message
& Insert Tasks into direct messages, so you can quickly & easily reference them
To organize your chat messages using Departments:
1. Click the + plus icon next to Department in the left side panel.2. Enter a name for the Department in the Department name textbox.
3. OPTIONAL: Enter a description for your Department in the description textbox.
4. OPTIONAL: Select a color for your Department.
5. OPTIONAL: Toggle the privacy switch ON if you want to create a private Department.
Note: Private Departments are only available on Teamly's Pro and Business plans.
6. OPTIONAL: To control access to your private department, you can either send user invitations or select existing users by checking the corresponding checkbox next to their names.
7. Click the Create button.
To create and format a group chat message:
1. Choose the Department you want to send a message to by clicking on the Department name in the left side panel.
2. Type your message in the message textbox at the bottom of the screen.
3. OPTIONAL: Add bold, italics, numbered lists, and other formatting to your message by highlighting your text, then selecting one of the formatting options located in the message textbox.
4. Once you've finished composing your message, click the Send button.
5. Your message can bow be viewed by everyone in the Department.
To create and format a group chat message:
Tasks can be inserted into direct messages, as well as Departments chats. In the following section, you'll learn how to create a direct message and insert a Task into it.
1. Click the + plus icon next to Team chat in the left side panel, then select New Chat from the dropdown menu.
2. Start typing the name or email address of the user you want to message directly.
3. When the name of the person you want to message comes up, click on it, then hit Enter on your keyboard.
Note: If you want to directly message a group of people, continue clicking on names. When you're done, click Enter.
4. Type your message into the message textbox.
5. Click the Task icon in the message textbox. This will open a new window displaying the Tasks that your team is working on.
6. Double-click the Task you want to add to your message OR drag-and-drop the Task into the message textbox.
7. Click the Send button.
8. Once you've inserted a Task into a message, your message recipient can open that Task right in Chat -- just by clicking on it.
