Direct messages allow you to correspond with other users on the platform in private, real-time exchanges. There are several options available to begin a direct chat or message with other users.
Navigate to a department and at the top right side you will see a list of users that are in the department.
Click on the user to open their profile then select Chat.
Alternatively, at the bottom left side panel click on the + icon next to Team Chat then New Chat.
Users can also head over to the Direct messages tab in the left side panel to view and begin a direct chat.
Search for the user(s) you'd like to chat with directly. Type in the user's name/email or scroll down to locate the user. Once the user is selected click enter.
After selecting the user you'd like to DM (direct message) they'll show below the Team Chat tab. The green dot below their image indicates that they're online.
Unread messages will show under the project icon and All unread tab with a count and under the Team Chat view for direct messages.
When you begin a DM with a user you will see the user's status as well a getting started message.
At the top left side of the direct chat you will see the Add Sticky option to attach/pin files in the message.
At the top left side you can see the user's local time (if configured under their profile).
At the bottom are the message options including adding emojis, formatting, files and viewing a list of tasks that are assigned to the user.
To close a direct message or DM click on the X icon next to the user's name.
