Copying video segments can significantly enhance your editing workflow. Whether you’re looking to duplicate a segment for reuse or create variations of a clip, understanding how to efficiently copy video segments will save you time and improve your overall productivity.
In the “Video Editor,” right-click on the segment in the timeline you want to copy and select the “Copy” option. In this example, we’ll be copying a video segment.
Lock the other segments such as the audio in this example that you do not want to copy.
Use the timeline cursor to select an area that you'd like to copy by dragging the handles on the left and/or right side.
Click on the “Copy” tool or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + C.
Alternatively, right click on the selected are to copy.
Double-click on any part of the timeline cursor to align the handles, then move it to the desired location where you want to paste the copy segment.
Click on the “Paste” tool or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + V.
The copied segment will appear on the right side of the timeline cursor, with a new line added for the copied segment.
Remember to click “Save” once you’ve finished making changes.
