Creating Screen Recordings and Screen Captures

Modified on Fri, 08 Dec 2023 at 10:59 AM

Screen recordings can save you a ton of time, while making it easier for your team to share information, collaborate, and learn from each other.

For instance, you can use screen recordings to explain tasks, provide feedback, give presentations, share status updates, document processes, create tutorials, and even onboard new hires.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create a screen recording

  • Capture a screenshot

  • & Save OR share a link in the cloud with users, external partners, clients, and anyone else you like!

To create and share a screen recording:

Click on the "Screen Capture" icon in the left side panel.

This will bring up the screen capture widget. This widget can be clicked on and moved to any location on your screen.

You’ll see the option for a video and screenshot.

When you click on video you’ll see the counter, the microphone that is automatically turned on or you can mute it and the voice control.

When you’re ready to start your recording click on "Capture."

Click and drag the capture modal to select the area you want to capture.

The recording interface will look a bit different in a browser. The recording option is best when used in the desktop application.

A countdown will begin 3, 2, 1…

Here you’ll see the timer going up, your voice level, mute the mic if you’d like, pause and restart the recording or completely stop it. Alternatively, you can also click on the X icon to cancel the recording.

Once you’ve completed the recording it will be saved in the files tab.

To grab a screenshot go back to the screen capture icon click on "Screenshot" and "Capture."

Click and drag the capture modal to select the area you want to capture.

The screenshot will be automatically taken.

At the top left hand side you’ll have the option to add an arrow, border, text and change the colors and size. You'll also have the option to freehand or draw on your screen capture.

Once you’re done you can "Save" it to your files or click on "Share."

Clicking on "Share" automatically copies a link to the screenshot on your clipboard which you can paste in a browser, for example. On the right hand side you’ll see the option to share it on social media, an option to copy the link, how many times it's been viewed, the name of the screenshot, who the screenshot was taken by and how long ago it was taken.
